MEDIA SPECIALIST FROM NEWCASTLE NSW
I am a Digital Media Specialist with experience of digital productions from a wide range of disciplines and industries. I hold a Bachelor of Communications degree at distinction level, with a major in media production from the University of Newcastle NSW. I have a keen interest in film, music production, audio, and TV production. My interest in media started at high school in the UK and has always been a passion of mine, along with music, and contemporary literature.
Originally from the UK, I have a background in live performance. I was in the first non-classical band to be funded by the UK National Lottery and went on to have a song produced and published by Western Star Records.
Before enrolling in my bachelor’s degree, I was also involved in Shootout Newcastle Film Festival in 2007 and worked with Crimean Pictures to produce a film within 24 hours. This was my first project working within a film crew, it was the catalyst for me to finally pursue my ambition of working within the media industry.
LATEST PROJECT
At present, I am freelancing and producing content for corporate clients within the Newcastle area, and I am always seeking a story to tell via the medium of film. A recent project I have completed is of a stone carver based in the UK. Whilst visiting the UK I travelled to Somerset to meet Tom Waugh and spent a couple of days filming in his workshop, and on location.
BROADCASTING EXPERIENCE
I am also part of the live broadcasting team at BarTV and am responsible for covering National Premier League fixtures. BarTV Sports is a hybrid sports broadcaster which specialises in producing and streaming high definition content around grassroots and mid-tier sporting competitions, tournaments and events across Australia.
And once a month I volunteer my time to assist with the live broadcast of the Lunaticks Society Tech and Innovation show which is held at the Foghorn Brewery Newcastle. Founded in 2010, The Lunaticks Society is an incorporated association dedicated to promoting digital innovation and new ideas in Newcastle and Regional Australia.
LONG TERM GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS
A long term goal of mine is to continue working within the Creative Industries and to progress my learning and development within a professional capacity. My main interests lie within film and TV, however I am keen to apply my skills and knowledge within the IT sector, marketing, and social media.
